Einer der besten Jahresrückblicke in musikalischen Dingen ist der Songs We Listened To A lot In Mix von Skratch Bastid und Cosmo Baker. Die beiden sind mit ihrem Projekt mittlerweile im 5. Jahr und wieder ist es sehr gelungen. Nicht alle Songs kannte ich bisher, vielen Dank für die Nachhilfe.

Die guten Traditionen sollten erhalten bleiben. Genauso halten es auch Skratch Bastid und Cosmo Baker mit ihrem Songs We Listened To A Lot Jahres-Rückblicken. Eine gute Sache,natürlich exzellent gemixt und sehr vielfältig. Kann ich mir ohne weiteres ein paar mal am Stück anhören und ist sogar als Download zu haben. Eine rundum gute Sache, inklusive Tracklist nach dem Klick zu finden.
Tunes der Woche – Chemical Brothers, Q-Tip, Alessia, Disclosure, Rainy Milo, Genetikk, Camp Lo, Izzy Bizzu, B.S.H., Miguel, Kaytranada, Frizzo & Skratch Bastid
Woop, schon ist die Woche wieder fast durch. Zeit für Musik. Den Anfang machen die Chemical Brothers mit Q-Tip. Die neue Single "Go" klingt wie die Neuauflage von "Galvanize", macht aber nix, schockt nämlich. Michel Gondry hat einen großartigen Clip dazu gedreht. Mein Geheimtipp der Woche ist die nur 18-jährige Alessia mit "Here". Wow! Disclosure melden sich richtig stark mit "Bang That" zurück. Ein Knüller, wie ich finde. Rainy Milo kannte ich bisher nicht, "This Thing Of Ours" finde ich aber recht gut. Außerdem gibt's nach dem Jump Neuigkeiten von Genetikk mit ihrem Tune "Caput Mundis". Camp Lo (ja, tatsächlich) mit "Black Jesus". Ich finde den Tune leider nur mittelmäßig. Izzy Bizzu mit dem bereits etwas älteren "Diamonds". Bass Sultan Hengzt, der jetzt etwas mehr in Richtung Radio tendiert, mir mit "Farben" aber ganz gut gefällt. Miguel ist mit neuer Single und Wale am Start. Dope! Tuxedo haben einen sommerlichen Remix von Kaytranada bekommen. Ebenfalls sommerlich ist Frizzos "Summer". Das Schlusslicht ist heute Skratch Bastid mit seiner Routine auf "NXWXRK" von Nadus. Skratch Bastid und Cosmo Baker haben bereits im letzten Jahr gemeinsam ihren "Songs We Listened To A Lot" Mix veröffentlicht und halten glücklicherweise an der jungen Tradition fest. Drei Stunden Musik wie immer brilliant gemixt von den beiden. Soul, HipHop, Elektro, House, Latin, Trap, Reggae, es ist wirklich sehr bunt und ein gelungener Rückblick auf ein sehr gutes Musik-Jahr. Die vollen 3 Stunden gibt's nach dem Klick als Stream und auch als Download. -> We've all got our own jams. Good songs have a way of finding our ears and if we love them, we keep them near. We go back to them, sometimes every day, sometimes every few weeks, or months, or even every few years. Some songs are new, some are old -- our personal soundtrack is unique and comes from a number of different influences. We play certain songs over and over, and those songs often go on to define that time in our lives. "Songs We Listened To A Lot in 2013" is sort of a "Best Of" year-end mix, but the catch is it isn't only comprised of music that was released that year. Many of the songs ARE from 2013, but we want to make sure the 'older' songs that made noise on our speakers & headphones get the shine they deserve, too. 39 tracks, and just under 3 hours of music. It's safe to say that there is something on here for everyone, and we guarantee you're going to hear something new. 
Mixtape Monday: Skratch Bastid – Satisfaction Guaranteed (Mixtape + Download)
Ohne Frage einer meine Lieblings DJs ist dieser junge Mann aus Kanada. Skratch Bastid liefert nicht nur gute Produktionen ab, sondern ist vor allem für seine Mixtapes bekannt. Sehr solide Cuts und Backspins, ohne es damit zu übertreiben. Immer gut selektiert und erfrischend kombiniert. Im Prinzip alles, was ich mir von einem DJ wünsche. Der "Satisfaction Guaranteed" Mix ist bereits aus 2008, da es sich aber ohnehin um älteres Material handelt, ist das beinahe egal. Eine totale Bombe von Mixtape. Funk von Herbie Hancok, Joe Quaterman, Rap von Busta Rhymes, Brother Ali und den Ultra Magnetic MCS und ein bißchen Reggae machen das Ding rund. Absolute Empfehlung meinerseits. Shad & Skratch Bastid – The Spring Up EP (+Download)
Diese EP von Rapper Shad und DJ Skratch Bastid hält was der Titel verspricht, gute Laune Sommer-Sounds die sich richtig gut in meinen Boxen machen. Die "Spring Up" EP ist ein Teaser zu Shads kommendem Album, komplett nach dem Klick zu hören und auch als Download zu haben. Nice!

Heavyweight Carry-On: A 45″ mix by Skratch Bastid, Marc Hype & DJ Expo
Die drei DJs Skratch Bastid, DJ Expo und Marc Hype treffen sich dank gemeinsamer Bekannter in Berlin, der Heimat Hypes. Die Gunst der Stunde wird genutzt und es entsteht "Heavyweight Carry-On". Der besteht ausschließlich aus den 7" Vinyls die sich in den Reise-Cases der drei finden. Vorweg die ganze Geschichte, den Mix inklusive Tracklist gibt's nach dem Klick zu hören. Sehr gute Sache! -> Picture this: 3 DJs (Skratch Bastid, Marc Hype & DJ Expo) from 3 different countries (Canada, Germany & USA, respectively) are all in Berlin at the same time. Bastid & Expo are on the road touring in Europe on separate tours, and Marc is at home in between German & Russian tours. By the grace of a few mutual friends, they all meet at Marc's house to hang out and trade music. Each DJ cracks open their stuffed 45 road cases (they never fit enough...) and they proceed to show off the records that they packed, over sips of delicious Tegernseer. Marc has the bright idea that they should record some of this. They meet again the following day and start recording a mix. Simple enough. Made solely from the 45s that they took on tour, HEAVYWEIGHT CARRY-ON is 70 minutes of Funk, R&B, Latin, Hip-Hop, Dancehall & Reggae 7" records - an all vinyl mix. The added restriction with wax-only gigs is that you can play only what you can carry into the gig, and traveling tightens those limitations even more. It's whatever you can fit in the overhead compartment or under the seat in front of you, because no one puts their copy of Bobby Franklin's Insanity in checked luggage, right?. Vado – Kick In The Door
Skeptische Gesichter und Fragezeichen tauchen bei mir auf sobald Biggie gesamplet wird. Das geht selten bis niemals gut und grenzt für mich meistens an Blasphemie. Oft möchten sich Newcomer einfach mit fremden Federn schmücken um einen leichteren Einstieg zu haben. Wenn das dann schief geht, aber mal so richtig...Nun hat sich Vado den Klassiker "Kick in the door" vorgenommen. Das gute alte Sample von Screamin' Jay Hawkins plus der Line von Biggie und irgendwie find ich es ganz rund. Kein Meilenstein oder so. Aber nett.
