Bis heute sind die Morde an Tupac und Biggie nicht aufgeklärt, sie werden es wohl auch nie. Gerade kam ein Trailer zu einem Film mit dem Titel City of Lies in dessen Hauptrollen Jonny Depp und Forest Whitaker zu sehen sind. Depp spielt Russell Poole, einen ehemaligen LAPD Ermittler, der in beiden Drive By Shootings ermittelte. Nach gut 20 Jahren ist er nicht vorangekommen und bekommt Unterstützung vom Journalisten „Jack“ Jackson, dem es gelingt etwas tiefer in die Abgründe des LAPD vorzudringen.

Das Drehbuch ist einer wahren Geschichte nachempfunden, die in dem Buch LAbyrinth von Randall Sullivan (ich habe es gerade bestellt) beschrieben wurde.

It is based on the book LAbyrinth by Randall Sullivan, about the murder investigations of Tupac Shakur and The Notorious B.I.G. The film stars Johnny Depp, Forest Whitaker, Rockmond Dunbar, and Neil Brown Jr. The film is set to be released on September 7, 2018 by Global Road Entertainment.

The film tells the story of american hero and former LAPD detective, Russell Poole (Depp), who is working the murder cases of rappers Tupac Shakur and The Notorious B.I.G. A reporter (based on journalist Randall Sullivan’s collaboration with Russell Poole „Jack“ Jackson, teams up with Poole after nearly two decades to find out the truth.
