McBarge – McDonalds verlassenes schwimmendes Restaurant
Das schwimmende Restaurant von McDonalds wurde auf den Namen McBarge getauft und anlässlich der Expo Weltausstellung 1986 in Vancouver gebaut. Seit wann das Schiff außer Betrieb ist, weiß ich nicht, aber es werden schon ein paar Jahre sein. In diesem kurzen Clip paddeln 2 Typen mit einem Schlauchboot über den Fraser River, wo die McBarge derzeit ankert und vor sich hin rottet.
In 1986, the world was introduced to the McBarge (AKA, the Friendship 500). The floating fast food phenomenon was created for the World Expo in 1986, which was held in Vancouver, British Columbia. Unfortunately, now the Abandoned McDonalds Barge no longer serves Big Macs, and was abandoned and derelict on the Fraser River, in Mission, British Columbia for many years.
Paradise Discotheque: Fotos verlassener italienischer Diskotheken von Antonio La Grotta
In den 80er und 90er Jahren, nach der Blütezeit des Italo Disco Sounds, eröffneten unzählige Diskotheken in Italien. In aufwändigsten Gebäuden feierte die High Society zu Rave und Pop. Doch die Zeiten sind vorbei und die Tanztempel und Partyhöhlen der glorreichen Jahre mittlerweile verlassene Ruinen. Fotograf Antonio La Grotta hat den Verfall mit sehr beeindruckenden Fotos in der Serie "Paradise Discotheque" dokumentiert. Die Bilder der vor sich hin rottenden, ehemals zum Teil prunkvollen, Räume und Statussymbole sind ebenso genial wie auch abgefahren. -> Discotheques, the symbol of 80s and 90s hedonism, were fake marble temples adorned with Greek statues made of gypsum, futuristic spaces of gigantic size, large enough to contain the dreams of success, money, fun of thousands people. And then the dreams are gone, people disappeared and nightclubs became abandoned wrecks, cement whales laid on large empty squares, places inhabited by echo and melancholy. The grass is growing in the cracks, the Discobolus is hiding under a porch, priggish Venus lurks behind the bars. The Paradise Discotheque, contemporary monuments of our civilization, are waiting to be burned to the ground, and in this expectation made of vacuum, only the memory of a former glory remains.
