Ich habe noch einen Karton alter Mixtapes zuhause gelagert. Seit Jahren habe ich sie nicht mehr gehört, wenn es mir wirklich fehlen würde, hätte ich sicher auch ein Tapedeck. Aber MP3s sind halt deutlich komfortabler. Vor allem eben auch mobiler. Das Handy hat man ja ohnehin immer dabei. Bastler Artur vom Tapeless Tapedeck Project möbelt einige der unzähligen aussortierten Tapedecks wieder auf und rüstet sie um. Es ist eine Kombination aus seiner App, die auf dem Handy läuft, dass in das alte Tapedeck eingeklemmt wird. Retro trifft auf kontemporär, auch wenn es hauptsächlich um die Optik geht. Trotzdem ganz charmant und sieht auch gut aus.
In seinem Shop verkauft er die Geräte für ca. 250€, baut aber auf Anfrage auch Tapedecks um. Wer also noch eines hat und es gern auf diese Weise in Betrieb halten möchte, kann es bei ihm umbauen lassen. Ziemlich gut!
I love old HiFi equipment – mainly because of its fantastic sound, but I also admire the mastery of engineers who create such fabulous constructions. Before era of digital CD players, cassette recorders were most advanced masterpieces of engineering craftmanship. It was real art, to create precise and sophisticated mechanisms without using any CAD software or computer simulations. Today we can meet many of them – broken, damaged, forgotten. Could there be something more beautiful than giving them a new life? That’s why I started the MP3 TapeLess Deck Project.
What was the hardest thing when I started this project? Just come to the crazy idea, that converting an old tape recorder into the mp3 player is possible and makes sense. The rest was as simple as using relativity theory in practice… :)
