Metal ist nicht das Erste, was mir einfällt, wenn es um Botswana geht. Die Filmemacher von Great Big Story waren aber vor Ort und haben das Winter Metal Mania Fest besucht. Gastgeber und gleichzeitig Headliner ist die Band Overthrust, die richtig klassischen Thrash Metal machen und seit einiger Zeit auch in anderen Ländern mit ihrer Musik erfolgreich sind. Ich feiere das!
When it comes to mosh pits, leather, studs and death metal, Botswana may not be the first place that comes to mind. But in this African country, death metal is thriving thanks to bands like Overthrust. Formed in 2008, Overthrust has become one of the country’s leading acts. Their fans include priests, pastors and diehard young head bangers. Now they’re headlining a festival that has attracted death metal bands from across Africa, proving to the rest of the world that Botswana can thrash as good as anywhere.
