Diese Doku begleitet Francis, den amtierenden Friseur-Champion des schottischen Gefängnis-Wettbewerbs. Er hat bereits drei mal gewonnen und wird dieses Jahr zum letzten mal antreteten, denn seine Freilassung steht bevor.

Eine Schere ist üblicherweise nichts, was man im Knast legal in die Hände bekommt. Die schottische Maßnahme hat sich allerdings schon über Jahre sehr bewährt. Francis erzählt davon, wie Frisuren im Gefängnis als Status-Symbol funktionieren. Ziemlich interessant das alles.

Every year, life in a few of Scotland’s prisons gets particularly tense as its annual prison hairdressing competition gets underway. For most of the entrants, winning first place is the ultimate goal, but for Francis, the current champion, who’s soon to be released, the competition is a glimpse at a life of freedom and responsibility. For some of his fellow entrants, the competition might be the only glimpse they get.
