Der spanische Fotograf Jorge Pérez Higuera stellte sich die Frage, was ein imperialer Stormtrooper eigentlich in seiner spärlich gesäten Freizeit so täte. Mit „The Other Side“ entwarf er einige Szenarien, für den Fall, dass Darth Vader mal wieder ein paar Tage Freigang gestattet.

Der Stormstrooper renoviert seine Wohnung, macht die Wäsche oder die Steuererklärung und geht mit Freunden Billard spielen oder ins Kino. Eine ziemlich unterhaltsame Serie, die mit sehr viel Liebe zum Detail inszeniert wurde. Da Pérez Higuera nur ein einziges Kostüm besitzt, sind alle Shots auf denen mehrere Trooper zu sehen aufwändige Fotomontagen.

Yes, the project has a complex production, more than i could imagine when i started. Usually, i start with a little sketch of the scene that i imagine, and then from there i begin to think what i need for it, from the most adequate place to the details and objetcs that have to be in the scene. I usually know what sort of scene i am lookin for, including the poses and gestures of each character but i don’t have a group of actors, i only have one costume so i work with only an actor in each scenario.

The group photography is a result of a combination of several photographs, combined using a photo editing software. It makes each photograph a new challenge because you never see the complete result while you are shooting with the camera and you always have to imagine where every character will be located, leaving them enough space to be added later on. For example, the cinema picture was more than 5 hours shooting cause we made 250 characters, later, in my pc i needed more than 30 hours to end it (and a new pc cause my laptot died in the process).
