Hipstory – Politiker als Hipster von heute

Der aus Jaffa / Israel stammende Designer und Illustrator Amit Shimonihat an der Bezalel Academy in Jerusalem studiert. Mit den Illustrationen seiner „Hipstory“ Serie widmet er wichtigen politischen Persönlichkeiten der Geschichte des vergangenen Jahrhunderts ein Bild und interpretiert sie in typischen Hipster-Outfits.

Mit dabei sind unter anderem Che Guevara, Mahatma Gandhi, Nelson Mandela, Vladimir Lenin, Angela Merkel und der Dalai Lama. Die meisten finde ich sehr gut getroffen.

The history of the last century is heavily defined by its prominent figures – the main leaders who shaped the course of history. I often find myself imagining a world where some of these leaders are less interested in influencing lives, and more focused on their own persona.
Imagine Gandhi obsessing about his looks, and not about releasing India from the British rule? Or Abraham Lincoln searching for a hip bar, instead of abolishing slavery? Although all of these great leaders were a part of a collective identity, they were all still unique and innovative in their own way
